The CFUW Orillia Education Foundation is pleased to announce that 37 scholarships totaling $58,056 have been awarded to support women from the Orillia area pursuing post-secondary education. The recipients include 32 graduating secondary school students, as well as post secondary students attending Georgian College and Lakehead University’s Humanities 101 program.

“These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of our donors, sponsors and supporters who believe in the power of education to transform lives. On behalf of the CFUW Orillia Education Foundation, I congratulate this year’s recipients and thank everyone whose contributions are helping local women pursue their educational goals and build brighter futures,” said Marci Csumrik, President of CFUW Orillia Education Foundation.

New in 2026, three scholarships were established through the generous support of the Frank H. Hori Foundation and awarded to local students pursuing post-secondary education. Two additional named scholarships were awarded: The Marlene Bulas Scholarship was awarded to a student pursuing art in university or college. and The Nan Farwell Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a student who has demonstrated strong leadership qualities and financial need.

Each year, students apply through the CFUW Orillia Education Foundation and scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, involvement in school and community activities, and financial need. Applications are carefully reviewed by a committee of CFUW Orillia Education Foundation members.
